The Texas Rangers is a professional baseball team that plays in the Western Division of the American League. It is a member of the Major League Baseball. In 1989 the team was acquired by an investment group headed by future US president George W. Bush. In 1991 the rangers decided to replace the aging Arlington Stadium. The soil was broken for the all new stadium in October 30, 1991. Bush left his position in 1994 when he was chosen as the Governor of Texas. Kevin Kennedy took on the managerial responsibilities when bush left.
After obtaining victory in the Al West games with a record on 90-72, the rangers joined the playoffs for the first occasion since 1999. They played with the Tampa Bay Rays in the first round and resulted in a 3-2 series victory, it was the first post season victory of the rangers. In the American League Championships they confronted the New York Yankees and they came out successful. It was their first pennant in their team history.
